This is a fun page for our family to provide because we love to find bargains on books and educational materials! A family hobby is to collect quality used books from used books sales and rummage sales.
There are two parts to this page: CNS Materials and Used Books. We will be working to keep this page as current as possible, but please e-mail used book/material requests before mailing an order so we can verify the availability. Shipping information is provided in the notes at the beginning of each part.
Occasionally we get some great deals on new materials. Check current tiles on the Super Bargains page.
DAMAGED or DEFECTIVE CNS MATERIALS
Notes:
1) All used items are sold at a 50% discount from the retail price (if the retail price is not listed, obtain it from the appropriate page on this website -- links are provided below).
2) Some reasons why an item would be available for a reduced price: light printing (but still readable), a crunched corner, a cover that does not pass inspection, a crooked right edge cut on a booklet, materials that have been damaged in shipping.
3) If more than one copy is available, the number of copies available is listed in parentheses at the end of the title.
4) You may add an item(s) from the CNS MATERIALS list to your order blank and still pay the low shipping rate of $2.00 per order.
5) Please clearly write the word DAMAGED after each title on the order blank.

USED BOOKS*

Like New, Gently Used, or Used Condition
*DISCLAIMER
Members of our family chose each book
listed below for one or more of a variety of reasons:
We have read the book so we know we like it and want to pass it on,
we have read other books by the author or in a series,
it has been recommended by others, it is an old book, it is a classic, it is on a reading list, etc.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE NOT READ EVERY BOOK!
NOTES: 1) PRICES: Paperback books are $1.00 each and Hardcover books are $2.00 each unless a different price is printed in parentheses. If the letters HD (which stands for HARDCOVER) are not present in the parentheses, it is a paperback book. 2) SHIPPING: CNS offers a low shipping rate -- $2.00 per order. That basic shipping rate applies to Used Books, but an additional $1.00 per book is also necessary for the first 9 books you order (see the Quantity Discount on Shipping that is printed below in red).
For example, if you were to order one book from this Used Book section, you would pay $3.00 shipping; if you order two books, you pay $4.00 shipping, 3 books = $5.00 shipping.
The CNS order blank has the $2.00 shipping charge printed on it. It also has an extra blank labeled Extra Shipping for Used Books; add the extra shipping for a used book(s) on this line. If you are placing an order for any new CNS material(s), the $2.00 shipping rate does not have to be duplicated. For example, if you were to order a new study guide and one used book, you would pay $3.00 shipping. QUANTITY DISCOUNTS ON SHIPPING: Order 10-24 books and pay only 50 cents per book for shipping; order 25 or more books -- pay only 25 cents per book for shipping!
(The regular $2.00 shipping charge still applies to the Quantity Discount; for example, if you ordered 10 books, you would pay $7.00 -- the regular $2.00 charge, plus $5.00 -- 50 cents per book for 10 books. If you order 25 used books, you will pay $8.25 -- the regular $2.00, plus $6.25 -- 25 cents per book for 25 books.) 3) CONDITION: Most of the books listed on this page are in As New, Fine, or Very Good condition (see the descriptions below). We only purchase books in Good, Fair, or Poor condition if we know for sure that it is a quality title. The covers of all books have been wiped with a damp cloth; each page of board books have been wiped.
If you are interested in knowing the condition of a book(s), send CNS an e-mail listing the title(s). Each book will be rated as follows: AN= AS NEW* (The book is in the same immaculate condition in which it was published.) Titles of books in AS NEW condition are printed in pink. FN= FINE* (The book approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp.) VG= VERY GOOD* (This describes a book that does show some small signs of wear, but there are no tears on either binding or paper.) GD= GOOD (The book is in average used and worn condition; it has all pages or leaves present.) FR= FAIR (This describes a worn book that has complete text pages, but may lack endpapers, half-titles, etc.) PR= POOR (This describes a book that is worn but still able to be read. This copy may be soiled, scuffed, stained or spotted and may have loose joints, hinges, pages. etc.) *I give books that are rated in As New, Fine, and Very Good condition to my children as gifts.
There are two possible reasons why a book is priced below the regular price of $1.00 for a paperback or $2.00 for a hard cover: 1) The condition may be poorer than we usually like to buy (Used condition), but it is a well-written book so we still want to make it available, 2) we were able to purchase it for a very low price (sometimes we are able to get good books at rummage sales for as little as 10, 15, or 25 cents!). If you have any questions about condition, please check with us about specific titles before ordering. 4) ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS: Please write USED after each title on the order blank. 5) IF THERE IS MORE THAN ONE COPY LISTED, they may or may not be the same edition; check with CNS before ordering if obtaining multiple copies of the same edition is important to you. 6) AVAILABILITY: We try to keep this list up-to-date, but please e-mail or call to verify availability before ordering. 7) VISIT OUR BOOTH AT CONVENTIONS if possible (see the Contact Us page after January 1st for the convention schedule); we offer hundreds of used books -- and there is no mailing charge! Or, if you live in/near the Duluth, MN area or are passing through, call or e-mail to arrange a time to stop by and check out the books.
